Peter van Olmen was born in the surroundings of Gent and lived seven years in Brüssel. He began writing fairy tales for children, and later, when he moved to Antwerpen, began to write his first book, Odessa und die geheime Welt der Bücher. He still lives there, with his wife, three children and a Golden Retriever.
