Twilight (3) - Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
And now to part three of the Twilight-Series - Eclipse (in French Hésitation, in German Bis(s) zum Abendrot) I read it in English, where it had 559 pages. Originally published 2007.
Edward is back again. Bella finally got the promise to be turned into a vampire and stay with him forever. She's making her family proud by graduating. Her best friend is talking to her again. Everything is perfect. Well, except for Victoria, who was seen at the borders to the reservoir... The Volutri planning to pay a visit... And the vampire-army sent to Forks. And suddenly, everyone's in danger once more... but dangers aren't everything she desperately wants to dodge.
This book was great. The characters were wonderful, the book was tense, emotional and full of interesting ideas. I really like it. And I feel sort of sorry for Jake. Even though I am all team Edward ;)
To go into a little more detail: The characters.
Alice rocks, like always. I absolutely love her and how she and Rosalie make a sleep-over with Bella. Even though it's forced, it sounded like fun.
Rosalie's background is very interesting and explains a lot. She's actually not a bad person and I feel sorry for her. She never wanted any of it, only wanted to have her prince with whom she could grow old together. And lots and lots of children in a big house. Well, the prince and the house she has. At least something. And it's actually good she didn't have to marry her fiancé. But still: She lost nearly all she ever wanted – ant would have – and then comes Bella. Bella, who gets the choice she always wanted: And she chooses “wrong”. I understand she's not at all pleased.
Like I said, I'm really sorry for Jake. Even though this thing before the battle. That just was cruel. I'm glad Edward didn't blame Bella. Even though it's very typical for her to blame herself.
Seth is gorgeous. I like all of the pack, even Leah. She isn't loveable, but she's a fascinating person. And I'm sorry for her situation. I mean, she still loves Sam and he's all about her cousin. And she has to see and hear it every single minute. I'd go a little crazy about this, too.
And I like this whole getting-married-thing. And how Bella in the end isn't just persuaded by Edward, but also strengthens him. That's really well done. And absolutely typical for both characters.
I give it a star for content, characters, ideas and style.
