Jonathan Stroud was born it Bedford, England, but he grew up near London. He always loved art and stories. Since he was often ill and in hospital when he was 7-9 years old, he started reading furiously and fell in love with fantasy. In school, he tried many things to find out what fit best to him, and studied in York University. After graduating, he worked for several years as editor for children books while he created lots of things for children in his free time. In 2001 he was married and became full-time-writer for children and young adults-books. Right now he has a daughter and published The Bartimaeus-Series, Lockwood & Co, Heroes of the Valley, The Ghost of Shadow Vale, The Last Siege, Next, The Leap, Buried Fire, Midnight Feast, The Viking Saga of Harri Bristlebeard, The Lost Treasure of Captain Blood, Ancient Rome and Word play World.
