Companions Quartet (3) - Mines of the Minotaur by Julia Golding

Part 3! Mines of the Minotaur! (German: Labyrinth des Minotaurus). I read it in German where it contained 318 pages. Originally published 2007.

When Col flies home in the middle of the night and finds Connie in the centre of a storm, unconscious, without a memory, he knows something is definitely wrong. Every once in a while Connie looses herself and gets... dangerous. She herself is scared to death and asks for help: But instead, she is thrown out of the club. The four most powerful members of the Companions Quartet try to find out what happened - and travel through Connie's mind...

The characters are good, the story is tense and the ideas are pretty cool. This whole mind controlling thing is very, very well done. How Connie is afraid and how the spell is broken again. It's interesting to see how powerful she really is, if she wants to. And how she uses that power for good, even if she's controlled. She's really a good person. I like it.

Her inner labyrinth is an interesting idea – and pretty selective. He he.

I also like, how Col wants to help her – and how his supervisor reacts. Poor boy! Reading about it is funny, being in that position probably not.

The wedding was very interesting. I like the surprise performance of the banshees and how Mack joins them. That's pretty cool of him.

The other, hidden mythological creatures are fascinating as well. The minotaur the most, but the others as well. Even though it's a little strange that the Companion's Quartet didn't help them before, but, instead, are responsible for some of their pain. That doesn't make sense. Really not!

So... four stars again! For characters, story, ideas and adequacy & tenseness.
