Rowling, J. K.
Joanne Kathleen Rowling (D) was born in 1965 in England and grew up in Chepstow, Gwent. She studied in Exeter university where she gained a degree in French and Classics. Trying out several jobs in London, she wrote down the ideas for Harry Potter on a delayed train journey from Manchester to famous King's Cross (unfortunately in reality without gate 9 3/4). While writing on the first part, she taught English in Portugal, got married, gave birth to a daughter called Jessica in 1993, divorced and moved back to England, where she lives with her daughter (in Edinburgh, to be exact).
She wrote: Harry Potter series, The Cormoran Strike Novels and a Casual Vacancy (pseudonym Robert Galbraith)
