Rick Riordan (D) was born 1964 in San Antonio. He started writing with 13 and worked for a newspaper - and got in trouble because of another newspaper he published which made mock of the school and the football team. Later on he studied first music in the North Texas State college, than changed his program to English and History in the University of Texas in Austin. He worked as an English and History teacher in different schools before getting a full-time author. He now lives with his wife, his two children and four pets in San Antonio.
