Belgariad (8) / Malloreon (3) - Demon Lord of Karanda by David Eddings
And to the next part: Demon Lord of Karanda (in German Dämon von Karanda, in French Le Démon Majeur de Karanda) I read it in English where it contained 403 pages. Originally published 1988.
On his quest to save his son - and the whole world - Garion and his friends are delayed by the Emperor of Mallorea, Kal Zakath, who doesn't want to let them go. But these aren't the only difficulties Garion has to face: Cyradis' riddles have to be solved, Ce'Nedra kept sane... and the hordes of demons that rave in Karanda will probably come in their way, too. Meanwhile, Zandramas refuses to play after the prophecies and the dead return (again)...
I liked it very much. The plot is still close to the first pentalogy, but it's not that copy-and-paste any more. Zith and Zakath's cat are gorgeous! And these kittens!
Liselle and her devices to drive Silk crazy are just hilarious. Really, you could actually be sorry for him, but... well, it's his own fault. And I don't think he minds much.
But it's cool this helps Ce'Nedra. She and Garion are so cute together, and Polgara's meddling in their relationship. Well, she doesn't meddle exactly. But she's close to meddling. How everyone goes to Aunt pol with all their problems. That's so cool!
Who are gorgeous as well are Vella and Beldin. So. Damn. Funny! They both have such mouths! I wonder whether Eddings planned to fix them up from the beginning. I doubt this. But... this way's even more romantic. Yes, I know, that sounds sappy.
But what I like most is Zakath and Cyradis. They are very interesting and their "relationship" is fascinating.
I give it stars for content, ideas, characters (pets), style and, last but not least the SoGH.
