Tracy Hickman was born and raised in Salt Lake city and began two years of servitude in Hawaii as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but he returned after four months to marry his high-school sweetheart Laura Curtis – also known as the person who played Laurana in the Dragonlance Chronicles. Tracy Hickman had, like many authors, different jobs, including one in a supermarket, one as a movie projectionist, a theatre manager, a glass worker, a television assistant director and a drill press operator in a genealogy centre. He published modules for Role Playing games with his wife – which is how the publishing service TSR noticed him, the service where he met Margaret Weis. Right now, he and his wife give teaching seminars and workshops on creative writing and Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers at the Bringham Young University. He and his wife are not longe part of TSR, but they continue publishing Role Playing Games related work. They live in South Hordan and have for children: Angel, Curtis, Tasha and Jarod.

He wrote The Dragonlance Chronicles, Legends, The Second Generation and Dragons of Summer Flame as well as the War of the Souls Series, the Lost Chronicles, the Darksword Series, the Rose of the Prophet Series, The Death Gate Cycle Series, the Starshield Series, the Sovereign Stone Series and the Dragonships of Vindras with Margaret Weis and The Dragon’s Bard Series, The Annals of Drakis Series, The Bronze Canticles Series and various RPG’s with his wife – such as Ravenloft and other what’s their names… Still, he also wrote by himself: The Star Craft Series, the Nightbird Series, The Immortals, the Wayne of Gotham and Fireborn: Embers of Atlantis.
