Morganville Vampires (XII) - Black Dawn by Rachel Caine

And part 12 of the series... Black Dawn (not translated yet). I read it in English where it contained 507 pages. Originally published 2012.

The draug have invaded Morganville. Now it is up to its population, vampires as well as humans, to defend it with their lives. Because, no matter what happens, their lives are at stake. The strongest of Morganville are suddenly the weakest: Amelie herself is dying. There is a chance to save her, but it is very, very small...

As the only one who can see the master of the draug, Claire is THE target number one. To get her, he imprisons Shane in a dream world he can't escape from... How can Claire rescue Shane, Amelie and all the other victims of the draug?

In this book, there are content mistakes as well:

- Richard is major and would never have left; humans are not allowed out of town and especially not when they are the only chance of survival the vamps have

- just the Founder's houses have the don't-get-in-when-you're-not-of-the-same-race-as-we-are-safety

- Theo and Naomi were both changed by Bishop and therefore have the same bloodline

- The dose of the with the test water still has to contain a little blood of Eve because Michael couldn't wash it all off

- They first say Claire's "I'm Amelie's"-bracelet was the old one Sam wore, now it's a unique one, made for her!

- Pennywell not Pennyfeather

- and Sam was killed by Bishop, not by humans

but apart from that it is actually pretty good. I like the dream world-thing of Shane. It is very, very well done. Especially this "How did you call her"-scene... Sooo sweet. Even though the name sucks. I mean, seriously. It doesn't have the flow a name needs. Apart from that it's cool how Michael and Eve struggle in order to save their relationship. Really, poor Eve.

I give this novel a star for the ideas, the style, the characters and one for the dream world. Minus one for the mistakes.
