Morganville Vampires (6) - Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine
And part 6 of The Morganville Vampires: Carpe Corpus (in German Schwur für die Ewigkeit, in French Fin de Partie). I read it in... German, where it had 308 pages. Originally published 2009.
Claire managed to get into Morganville's latest rulers bloody hands, who is about to destroy everything his daughter built. Bishop took Claire's free will away as well as Michael's and Myrnin's, locked Shane up and wants to kill Eve. But the resistance grows and Claire's curse gets weaker every day...
This is the first TMV-book without a cliffhanger in the end! Applause! But the series goes on, don't worry. I think, Rachel Caine is writing at the 15th part now. However, it is tense, unique, funny and fascinating as always, the character constellation manages to be unique and different than before without really changing (I know it sounds stupid, but I can't help but describing it this way) and the plot as well as the ideas are great. SPOILER ALERT: I like how Claire tells Amelie what she thinks of her plan. Unfortunately there are lots of things that doesn't fit to the books before, which is irritating.
1. Lisa Day is Grandma Day's grandchild, not her daughter.
2. Myrnin's disease gets worse, he doesn't take the crystals but he still is more sane than ever before. That doesn't make sense!
3. Now Myrnin wrote the damn book! Please! Decide who wrote it! It gets so ridiculous!
4. Why hasn't Claire seen Michael in her room before? She was in there to get rid of her backpack, so she actually had to see him!
5. The Goldman's don't have a daughter. They have to married sons. That's not the same.
6. Claire didn't see how Michael was changed into a vampire.
7. Claire didn't take her backpack into the tunnels - non the less it appears when she needs it: Magic? I want to have a backpack like that, too. You never have to carry anything, it just pops into thin air if you need it. Nice.
8. Michael should decide whether or not he can hear if someone lies. He always tells something different.
9. Why do Michael, Shane, Eve and Claire drive with Ysandre and her friend? And why the heck do they talk in front of Bishop's favourites of their anti-Bishop-plans?
10. Amelie always calls Sam Samuel. Never Sam. But here she does it.
11. When they fight against Bishop, Claire lost much blood through Ada. She shouldn't be able to run so fast!
12. Jason never said he didn't kill anyone when Amelie was near. He only confessed that in Sam's presence.
I give this book a star for style, characters and ideas. but I have to delete a star because of the mistakes. Actually I had to delete two stars for these many mistakes (really, did the lectors were drunk?) but I can only delete one star per category.
