And the next book! The Shining Ones by David Eddings (In German Das leuchtende Volk, in French Ceux qui Brilles) I read it in English where it contained 472 pages. Originally published 1994.

Sparhawk and his crew are on the way to get the Bhelliom back, Ehlana and Sarabian are cleaning the court of the Emperor. And Sparhawk discovers things he hadn't thought possible: First, the one who controls these supernatural is a powerful Styric. Second, the Shining Ones exist and absolutely hate the Styrics, like Sephrenia. Third, Sephrenia hates them even more than they hate her. Fourth, without the help of both Sephrenia and the Shining Ones, he will fail and the world is doomed. Fifth, the Bhelliom has an own will. And sixth, to put an end to all of this, he has to kill a god - again.

This book was absolutely cool! The whole politics! And poor Oscagne!

Sarabian really learns fast, under watchful “Mother”. As does Ehlana. That woman's the only person in the world who can put her daughter in her place. And it's so nice how she manages all the secrets between her and her husband.

Her daughter's meddling is sweet! It's so cute how she messes with all of them. And it's great how she meets herself. He he. And Sephrenia and Sparhawk do look a little panicked.

Talen is so cute... but through his folly on the cliff he so did sign up for his new job. Danae was right: She will not make up her mind another time.

Theidea beind the Shining One's is very well done. As well as Sephrenia's reaction to them. I'm just thankful Sephrenia's streak of puberty was over soon. It's well done, realistic... but also annoying! But now we know, what Elenian magic is... and Kalten is so very gifted with it :D.

The only thing that wasn't so good is Khalad: He's a copy of his father. Which makes sense – since Kurik raised him. But hell, it's too much.

I give this book a star for plot, ideas, style and, last but not least, the politics. Plus SoGH.
