Shadow Falls Camp (4) - Whispers at Moonrise by C. C. Hunter
And now to Whispers at Moonrise, part 4/5 of the SFC-Series (in German Verfolgt im Mondlicht). I read this book in German, it had 542 pages. Originally published in 2013.
Kylie knows what she is - finally! But the answer doesn't make any sense and some of her friends begin to question her dad's credibility *cough cough, Lucas, cough cough*. Shadow Falls is a Camp no longer but a boarding school. And some teachers aren't particular trustworthy... Plus, Lucas sister shows up, together with to supernatural ghosts, who are related with Kylie in a way. Add the fact her Mom is dating again (and her boyfriend isn't very nice) and the usual Derek/Lucas problems and Mario, Kylie has as much problems as before. But then she sees a ghost, who looks a lot like one of her closest friends. Who will die?
This book was tense, funny and the characters as great as always! I'm very excited to read Chosen at Nightfall which was released already, but will be available for me in a few months.
However, I especially like how Della begins to change and the way Kylie's friends deal with her new identity. SPOILER ALERT: Derek and Holiday try to support her in every possible way, Miranda thinks it would be sooo cool, Della is a little sceptic but accepts Kylie as she is and Perry is Perry. Yes, the only one who refuses to help Kylie is her boyfriend. Isn't it wonderful? Lucas thinks she's more or less insane, if she thinks her changing races faster than other girls outfits could be important. What he did in the end made me hate him. As much as you can hate a book character. But I seriously considered not finishing this series. What he did... it was really not okay. Poor, poor Kylie. I'm so sorry for her.
But the part with her distrust towards Hayden and Corin's creepy-ness as well as Hannah and the wardrobe – really, really well done. Even though I'm kinda sorry for Kylie that this has to happen. In class.
Lucas' half-sister is such a dear. I wanted to strangle her only once or twice.
But the FRU's history and how Kylie's family react to it was well done.
I'll give it five stars for the originality of the race, the plot, the characters and the style.
