Shadow Falls Camp (3) - Taken at Dusk by C. C. Hunter
At first, the title doesn't really fit to what you think... Derek returns to Shadow Falls with his supernatural Ex-girlfriend. Lucas comes and goes, Kylie is stalked by a ghost who lost her memories and came out of the grave of a murderer. And, of course, there is the prophecy "One will live... but someone else will die". As if that wouldn't be enough, Kylie doesn't have the faintest idea of what she is. Additionally, Mario's Gang is still powerful and don't let her sleep either... her life truly is a chaos.
The third part of Shadow Falls Camp is as wonderful and fascinating as the very first! Kylie's life is as rotten as before and she has a whole bunch of problems, with boys and her identity as well as ghosts and Mario. Good thing our protagonist has help of her four reliable friends Holiday (director of Shadow Falls), Miranda (who turned Kylie's cat by accident into a skunk), Lucas (who wants her to be a werewolf an nothing else), Derek (who broke up with her when she needed him most) the impulsive Della and self-centred second director Burnett of course, whose kryptonite doesn't want to spent more time with him then necessary. And of course Ellie and Fredericka make Kylie jealous over the top. In this book we all find out what Kylie is... do you want to guess?
To go into a little more detail: Lucas is so romantic. He's really great. As for Derek... what he did might be understandable but totally unfair towards Kylie. I'm sorry for her – and for him, in a way. Because Derek's a good person.
The thing with the shadowing has to get on Kylie's nerves! It would get on mine. But the thing with the bird was nice. Especially for me, because we have four of this particular species in our garden and one of them stalks us (mostly because we saved him from a dog, none of us is as cool as Kylie).
The thing with Red was very, very well done. Seriously. To change a bad guy, to let him develop? Very, very well done.
I give this book a star for characters, style, content and ideas - and zhe SoGH (I just say kangoroo-Burnett :) ).
