Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole
Evie is just a normal, fashion-loving, cheerleading, popular girl, the kind that you encounter in every school. Except for the fact that she was in a nuthouse due to her hallucinations of an apocalypse. And that she can control plants. As a matter of fact, Evie has to realise that she's nowhere near normal. She's an Arcana – a character from a tarot deck come to life. Every once in a while, a catastrophe takes place and the Arcana have to fight each other until only one survives. And Evie happens to be the Empress, capable to control everything that roots and blooms… and the one who killed most Arcana. The apocalypse is about to begin and with it the fight for life and death, just like her grandmother told her. But how can you actually prepare for all of that, when you believe you are crazy and your visions will never come true?
After the Flash, in which nearly everything that lives died, Evie has to struggle to survive – and to get the answers she desperately needs. When the addict and most dangerous boy Evie's ever met finds out that she's the only one on the entire planet who can make plants grow, a shaky alliance is forged: They'll keep each other alive, while they look for the most crazy person in the world to give them answers: Evie's grandmother. Whom can she trust, if the only way to survive is to kill everyone else? And what has the nuthouse made her forget?
